STANDARD 6. BECOMING A PROFESSIONAL
Candidates prepared in early childhood degree programs a) identify and conduct themselves as members of the early childhood profession. They b) know and use ethical guidelines and other professional standards related to early childhood practice. They c) are continuous, collaborative learners who demonstrate knowledgeable, reflective and critical perspectives on their work, making informed decisions that d) integrate knowledge from a variety of sources. They are e) informed advocates for sound educational practices and policies.
For NAEYC Standard 6- Becoming a Professional I chose my Developmental Program Proposal. This assignment required me to create an example program proposal using ethical guidelines and other professional standards related to early childhood practice. I had to demonstrate knowledge on continuous, collaborative learners who demonstrate knowledgeable, reflective and critical perspectives in my work, and make informed decisions that integrate knowledge from a variety of sources. It is about my own program for children with exceptionalities, ages birth through five years old. The program is a developmental day program. By completing this assignment I learned how to create a classroom for all children with exceptionalities.
