This professional portfolio is a reflection on my experiences pursuing my education in teaching Early Childhood Education at Sandhills Community College. It demonstrates my abilities in observing children and recording their behavior objectively, understanding child development and how to develop hands-on activities that help children learn. The portfolio has some of my lesson plans, and demonstrates my abilities developing an integrated unit. It also provides evidence of my understanding of learning centers and room arrangement through my room designs, and my work adapting a play area and redesigning its materials. It will explain how my passion is in a Kindergarten readiness inclusion program to help children build their language and literacy skills before entering school. "Reading is the Key to a Child's Success". You will learn through this portfolio that I am involved in the National Association for the Education of young Children’s local chapter. You will also see that in this portfolio that I have achieved certificates in, Basic School Age Care, NC Department of Public Instruction, Office of Early Learning, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, and Play leader training.
